More Oshiro model terrain buildings

I have finally got round to finishing two more buildings from
I plan to use these with my Home Guard, for invasion scenarios.
These are the Victorian terrace with shop front & house with arched ground floor.
The shop sign is a home made decal & the buildings are painted
with the same Techniques as for the Warehouse

Converted Boy Scout Runner

After reading some time ago about Home Guard Units using Boy Scouts as Runners for sections I thought that it would be nice to have a few available for my Army & as no one makes them I needed to make some!
I have managed to get a couple of the fantastic plastic Desert Rats from the Perry's from Duncan (dijit) over on LAF & Some of the Lemon Squeezer hats directly from Perry Miniatures to have a play about with & see if I could convert them to Boy Scout Runners.
I had read all-over the net about how small these miniatures were & I thought that as they were already in shorts it would be a doddle to convert them.
Any way they aren't as small as I thought & are of a similar height to the Perry sculpted Wargames Foundry WW2 range, but they are thinner build (as in more true proportioned) so I had more to cut from the figure than I thought I would!
Below is a picture of the Prototype showing the cut points in blue.

I just cut the plastic & trimmed sections out with a hobby knife at the marked points & glued it back together using plastic-weld some of the joints have been strengthened with super glue. I added a Knecker from green stuff & the Stave is a bit of a paper clip. I trimmed round the puggaree on the hat to make it thinner like the ones on the Scout hats.

Boy Scout from the Opposite Side

Next to a Foundry Commando (Going to be part of the Auxiliary Section) to see the size difference. I think that he could pass as 15 to 17yr old.

I hadn't intended to use this one & just use it as a prototype, but I'm please with how he turned out so I think I will chuck some paint at him & see how it looks.

Cheers
Keith

Warlord release Pictures of Cpl. Jones

Warlord have released a picture of Cpl. Jones from there 'Official' dads army figures.
I've been very excited about the release of these Paul Hicks Sculpted figures,

But I must say that I'm quite underwhelmed by this picture, I expected a lot more, what, I don't really know, I suppose, it should be head & shoulders better than the old Foundry one & I don't think that this does that. Whether its just the angle of the figures in the picture?
& they've painted the gaiters the wrong colour!!!

The Lion Has Phones

I've been making & painting this in bits & bats for a few months now (since I did the sniper)
Its an Objective marker for the demolition mission in Bolt Action, it's made from plasticard & plastic box, the sand bags are a resin piece from the defunct Crusader 36 with the Phone box & figures the usual Foundry pieces, with the guy on the phone made up from the leftover bits from making the sniper.

I have based it on a scene from the Dad's Army episode 'The Lion Has Phones' where they all have to learn how to make a phone call.
I may add some more figures etc. at some point.

Latest Bits

Well I've had a quiet few weeks with the nice weather but I'm getting back into it!

First off here's a couple of conversions of Foundry Home Guard.
I cut a shooting rifleman & the kneeling guy that comes with the telephone box in half & swapped the bodies round added a bit of GS & glued a scope on the kneeling bloke to create a Sniper & a Guradsman Holding open the Phonebox Door

I also made a scenic base fom plasticard for the sniper.

Next up is a couple of Vickers Light Tanks.
These are from Company B, but picked up a couple of extra turrets from Warlord Games & magnatised them, so that I could hve either HMG armed or Auto Cannon armed tanks

They are painted with Vallejo Reflective Green & have an Earth colour drybrush & wash in certain points, next is the pigments.

Finally I've got round to taking a picture of the dog that i got at Partizan on the Smith Gun Base

I'm still not sure about the dog though

War Spray Painted Pin Markers & Sticky Bombers

Finally finished the Pin Markers that I basecoated with the PSC War Spray.
I personaly found that it works better on the Black undercoated figure,
as opposed to the white ones.
I used the Vallejo brown wash first then, used Vallejo British Uniform as a first highlight & finally a highlight of British Uniform & Khaki mix, for both figures.
Overall I was happy with the War Spray, It would be nice to have a bottle of touch up paint to go with it though.

Here's a top view of the guy's playing Dominos, these were made from some Kneeling Warlord games plastic Brits & some other bits & pieces that I had kicking about.
The Dials, I think are from Warbases that I picked up at Partizan. I thought that these woud be easier than the Clix bases.

Here's a couple of Home Guard that I have armed with Sticky Bombs.

Bolt Action AAR

I managed to play the first game of Bolt Action last nigh against my mate Craig.
It was a 500pt game using my British Home Guard & German Fallschirmjäger on a 4 x 4 table round at Big Jim's.
We rolled for scenario & got Hold & Till Relieved, with the Germans attacking.
We only managed to get 4 turns in though, but here's a Bat rep
This was the initial set up
View from the British side

 View from the German side

The Home Guard drew the first couple of dice & occupied the church (the Objective) much to the Vicar & Vergers dismay, with the Fallschirmjäger Bike combi moving round on the flank & the PAK 36 going on ambush.
More of the British advanced onto the board, some on the flank to attack the Bike the rest in the cover of the building.

The Fallschirmjäger started their main advance on the Church, the Assault Engineers on one Flank & A section on the other.

The Home Guard section in the Church fired at the Assault Engineers & managed to shoot the Flamethrower!! & the other section got toasted by the Harvey Flamethrower.
While the bike & squad near the trees were at a stand off, with the Home Guard section rallying themselves & becoming regular.
The rest of the Home Guard appeared on the table & the Artillery Observer called in the
co-ordinates for the big guns & the Germans renewed there attack on the church, this time Succeeding in destroying the defenders & taking the church.

The Lieutenant & his command group assaulted the bike destroying it.
The 1st artillery barrage turned up putting pins on three sections.
The Smith Gun then took out the pak 36 with a well aimed shot.
Then there was trouble, as the artillery barrage was wildly miscalculated & landed in the right next to the advancing Home Guard giving four units pins!!!

The observer seems to have given his own co-ordinates by mistake!!
The British tried to advance on the Church, but to no avail with only the Command section & Beverette managing to pass an Order test!

We had now run out of time & the Germans declared the winners.

Overall it was a great fun game that we both enjoyed & are ready for another go.
Sorry about the poor quality of the pics as they were taken on mobiles.

Cheers, Keith

Shotgun armed officer

I'v finished painting the Officer with the shotgun.
I've gone for a more WW1 colour uniform on him.
The jacket is Vallejo Panzer Aces Russian Uniform as its a greener Khaki than British Uniform & the Trousers are Vallejo Khaki Grey

Eventually I will do another couple of figures to go with him,
But next it's on to the TANKS.

Home Guard with shotguns WIP

Leaving the saga of the cat alone for a while, I decided to get on with adding shotguns to some Foundry figures, by chopping of the rifles & adding abit of greenstuff where needed.
I'm happy with these so here's the first three:

Just need to do another 3 or 4 & an Officer.
The shotguns are from James (Lord of Jerwood)
over on LAF made for him by Ian Mountian.
Here's the link for anyone wanting any:

Smith Gun Cat?

Right after mentioning the footpath area that I wasn't happy with
there was a suggestion of a putting a cat there & I happened to have an old Grenadier miniatures cat, so I though that I would have a go at it.
Well.....here's the result....

I'm really not sure about this.
Whether it's my crap painting,
the actual sculpt or just the colours that I've painted!!
Please let me know your thought Guys.

I know that black cat bases do a post box so I've just been messing about & done this:

Which might work better otherwise Matt gets the prize & a newspaper it is :-)

Smith Gun Finished

Here's the finished Smith Gun & crew on the Base,
The gun looks a bit small to me, but as I've never seen one in the flesh, I'm not too sure.
Anyway here's the Pictures:

I'm undecided whether it needs something added to the corner of the
footpath as it seems a bit bare.

Smith Gun Base

Just finished making a base for The Stronghold Miniatures Smith Gun.
As can be seen from the pictures, the wall & footpath is made from plasticard & 80 grit sandpaper to represent the road.

I will post more as I get it painted.
Cheers
