Here's some more Great War Command Miniatures
All the paint recipe's the same as usual (I think) the flesh on these is the foundry expert set.

Toffee Apple Mortar Finished!

Well, I've finally finished the Toffee Apple Mortar & crew.
This seems to have taken forever to do.

The extra toffee apples have been made from milliput & plastic rod.

Great War Toffee Apple Mortar

I've started work on a Toffee Apple Mortar Commision

The main body is painted with Citadel Catachan green (god knows what its called now though) with grey & beige added to highlight & various washes.
Just neet to get the Toffee Apple finished now.

This will end up being based on another ruined building base along with the crew!

Great War British HMG Rust wip (Part 2)

Here's the finished picture of the rusted wrinkly tin.

I used the pigments to add some texture to the rusted areas,
I used Mig Productions Rust & added beach sand to lighten it for highlights,
these were mixed with car screen wash & dabbed on as appropriate
the when dry I rubbed of the pigment with an old brush if there was too much on.
I used mig pigment fixer was than used (surprisingly) to fix the pigment in place!
This is basically how I do rust,
whether its the same way as others do it I don't know.
It's the best way that I've found up to press, but things might change.

Great War British HMG Rust wip

Right here's a quick walkthrough of how i do rust
Heres the main colours that i use, Raw umber (very dark brown), Black & three rust shades as well as various shades inks & washes in brown, red, orange & green.
I start by mixing black & Raw Umber & paint an area that i want rusty, then highlight with Pure raw umber. I will then use a sponge & lightly sponge some extra patches of rust onto the model, these i may add another highlight to with a brush, but i tend to leave them..

Then carry on highlighting mixing the other colours in

Till the desired effect is reached

Then add various washes & glazes to blend in the rust.
The next stage will be the weathering powders.
Hope this helps so far.

Great War British HMG wip

Here's a quick picture of the figures on the proposed base
with part of a ruined building on it,

I've been cutting up a couple of sprues to make the bricks &
the wrinkly tin sheets are made from a coke can.
Whether it actually turns out anything like this when its finished,
we'll just have to wait & see.

Should have said the Idea for the wrinkly tin Jig came from a post on
LAF by The Lazy Forger, who found it on this Italian site: Tutorial link

I used some ø2mm nails with the heads snipped of for the jig though.
I used to use a different method of making the tin sheet but this is much simpler,
making the jig is the longest part of the whole thing!

I need to start thinking about the base for this,

to fit in with them.

Great War British Artillery Crew wip part 5

When all the bases are done & the figures are varnished
I will add a completed picture of the gun crews.

After these are done I have a HMG on Scenic base to do.

Great War British Artillery Crew wip part 5

I've finished the troops & need to find out exactly what to do about the bases,
as I'm not painting the guns for them.
The flesh on the officers has been sarted with a mixture of manufactures paints there's 3 layers & 1 wash on them so far! I'll hopefully get the flesh finished tonight.

Great War British Artillery Crew wip part 3

Here's the latest wip photo

Helmets & webbing on the crew have been done & the puttees started.
the uniforms on the Officers have been finished.
I just need to tidy them up & do all the Rank markings, but I will paint the flesh first.

I think I will finish the Flesh on the Bondi next though

Great War British Artillery Crew wip part 2

I've finished the flesh with the foundry set.
I still wasn't happy with it before the last two highlights were done, so I gave the flesh a wash with a mixture green & brown to tone it down a bit & I’m much happier with it.
I think in future I will add a touch of green grey to the paint.

The eyes were painted in dark brown, white and a dark brown pupil.
I usually use a darker brown but thought I would try a slightly different colour which I think works better. A wash of Luftwaffe uniform blue grey was also added over the chin & cheeks for a bit of 5 o'clock shadow.
At the bottom left is another Saga fatigue marker that I keep working on.
This one will be Vikingr that has over done the beer & feeling a bit sick!

Great War Artillery Crew British wip

Here's the wip of The Great War Miniatures Bef Gun Crews & HMG.
I've just picked up the Foundry Expert Flesh set &
as my own set that i had mixed up has finally given up on me
I thought that I would try it out on these.
I'm not sure though, it seems a bit bright up to now,
so I might have to add a bit of green to the pots to deaden it down a bit.
But I need to wait till I've finished the flesh to see how it looks.
All I've done on the Vikingr is finished the white edging.
