Terrain for pulp Alley’s The Hollow Scenario - Part 1

With the upcoming Third Pulp Alley Games day & the theme being Gothic Horror, I decided to put on The Hollow Scenario.

This is another one of those scenarios that I’ve always wanted to have a go at & never got round to sorting out.

It’s a theme is hunting for the Headless Horseman’s head, with the board being in darkness apart from under a circle of street lamps, but there is only a 6” diameter circle of light under each one.

The first thing that was needed was the street lamps, (this had been the main reason that I hadn’t played this scenario before) I managed to find some on Amazon for around £5 delivered from China, the only problem was that when they arrived 4 out of the 10 were broken.

I was offered a partial refund which I accepted as these were an easy fix & I had no intention of trying to get them to light up.
So I pulled out all the cables & glued a length of wire through the hole where the wires had been & glued each piece together.

To paint them i just gave them a quick dry brush with Black Brown & added some rust spots

I finished them of by glueing the Lamp Posts to clear 25mm bases to keep them from falling over.

The represent the sphere of light I found some 6" clear discs for £5 (on amazon again), I would have liked Yellow ones but they would be about 5 times the price!! these didn't have a hole in the centre, so I drilled out a hole so that I could drop the Lamp Posts in.

Next up I had purchased The Renedra Ramshackle Church, when I had originally purchased it I was disappointed that it didn't have any interior detailing & the rear door was a bit short.

To overcome this I scored the inside of the walls to look like planks & added some internal window frames, I also decided to put some broken beams under the bell tower to give it a bit of support as I was going to leave the roof separate.

I had removed the rear door & the sill & stuck the whole building to a sheet of plastic that had been scored again to look like planks to raise the building up a bit. the sill was glued back onto the plastic sheet & the door glued onto the floor. I added sand & a few Card roof tiles around the edge of the building.

I Painted the whole like old wood (hopefully that's what it looks like!) all the paints were Vallejo & I basecoated with Concrete, Old Wood for the 1st highlight & Light Mud for the 2nd one & I used a bit of Decktan in places & washed it with the ubiquitous Military Shader from Army Painter.
The roof is painted with the Quagmire Triad from Foundry.

A Few Pulp Miniatures

Just been trying to take some pictures of my Pulp Alley Leagues & some plot points, so I thought I might as well share them on here, as they’ve not been shown all together

First is The Tunbotham Detectives, then the next league is The Order of the Silver Cross a Vatican investigation team

Following after are the plot points, with some scratch built & bought bits.

Finally, there’s  three Perils 2 drunken sailors & a goose

First 2 Figures for The Silver Bayonet

I managed to pick up a second hand copy of The Silver Bayonet a few weeks ago & I have been trying my best to avoid getting sucked into this game (especially as I had sold off my Flintloque collection ☹️)

Anyway I got some Foundry 95th Rifles so I painted up the Officer to lead my force  & got given the Mary Seacole miniature that was given away at one of the Partizan shows to use as an Ocultist

I was also give some British Line Infantry, but they will need a repaint

FATHER CHRISTMAS CHARACTERS FOR PULP ALLEY

I've created some Father Christmas Characters to play a Christmas game with the kids, using some Christmas miniatures from wargames Foundry & Artizan Designs that I have accumulated over the years.

I thought that I had add a bit about my reasoning behind the traits used.
I gave the 3d10 shoot value as I think he’s had loads of practice with snowballs 🤣
The Agile trait to add +1 dodge, as he always manages to evade people looking for him.
Revive as he’s gone on forever.
Deductive as he always seems like a resourceful chap.

I hope they are of use to some one out there.
I will hopefully try to post the terrain & other Characters over the next week or two!

WW2 Evil Bad Guys

Some more miniature photo spam I’m afraid 🤣🤣

Here's a collection of Evil Bad Guys for Pulp & Weird War 2

They are a mixture of Weird War Miniature’s now sadly OOP, Warlord Games, Artizan Designs & Wargsmes Foundry. Some have been painted for a few years & been rebased

. For some reason they have uploaded in a completely random order, I suppose that’s the problem with uploading them from my phone

I just need the Feldpolizei figure from Wargames Foundry’s Armoured Kubelwagon, but I don’t want the vehicle only the figure so that won’t happen anytime soon!

PULP INVESTIGATION TEAM FOR FEAR OF THE DARK

Well I seem to be neglecting my Blog recently, every time I’ve tried to post something it’s failed, so 🤞this gets out 😁

I’ve finally found a use for all the Pulp/Weird War miniatures that I’ve kept buying!

I saw the Fear of the Dark rules mentioned over on LAF, so followed the links to the creators blog https://fearofthedarkskirmishwargame.blogspot.com/ & liked the look of them & went over to Wargames Vault & bought them.

It’s a game with very few miniatures. You have a group of Investigators with 3 to 4 figures looking for clues, fighting Gangsters, thugs, Cultists & Monsters.

Anyway here’s my team: A priest from Artizan Miniatures, An armed Nun, that I think is a homage to The Crimson Nun (this is a fan made miniature from LAF) & 2 Jolly Monks from Wargames Foundry.

The pages of the book still need to be finished, but I will do this after they have some varnish on (it will be easier to remove a mistake)

Warriors with Dane Axe

Well I finally managed to get the unit of Warriors armed with Dane Axes Completed.
I can now use these as normal Warriors in Vikings, Heavy Weapon Armed Warriors for Jomsvikings or Norse-Gaels & finally Gall-Gaedhill (Sons of Death)

I've done weapon swaps on another
Wargames Foundry Miniature & a Gripping Beast figure (now sold separately as a champion)
The last two new figures have not had any alterations, one is an old Citadel Viking (now sold by Wargames Foundry) & as for the other figure, I've  no idea who the manufacturer is.
Turns out he is a Black Tree Designs Unarmoured Saxon.

Anglo-Dane Warlord

I decided that I would like to try having a go at Anglo-Danes for Saga.
To do this I needed a new warlord with a Dane Axe,
so I had a root through my unpainted Dark Age figures &
found a Wargames Foundry Huscarl Character figure that I could add a big axe too.
I seem to have painted the shield very 90’s GW though 😂

Vikings with Dane axe

Here's a couple of Dane Axe armed figures that i did a while ago & forgot to post.
They are both from Wargames Foundry & have had weapon swaps.

Sorry for the mis-post, I seem  to be having trouble with the Blog Pad Pro App deleting everything rather than posting it.

Converted Boy Scout Runner

After reading some time ago about Home Guard Units using Boy Scouts as Runners for sections I thought that it would be nice to have a few available for my Army & as no one makes them I needed to make some!
I have managed to get a couple of the fantastic plastic Desert Rats from the Perry's from Duncan (dijit) over on LAF & Some of the Lemon Squeezer hats directly from Perry Miniatures to have a play about with & see if I could convert them to Boy Scout Runners.
I had read all-over the net about how small these miniatures were & I thought that as they were already in shorts it would be a doddle to convert them.
Any way they aren't as small as I thought & are of a similar height to the Perry sculpted Wargames Foundry WW2 range, but they are thinner build (as in more true proportioned) so I had more to cut from the figure than I thought I would!
Below is a picture of the Prototype showing the cut points in blue.

I just cut the plastic & trimmed sections out with a hobby knife at the marked points & glued it back together using plastic-weld some of the joints have been strengthened with super glue. I added a Knecker from green stuff & the Stave is a bit of a paper clip. I trimmed round the puggaree on the hat to make it thinner like the ones on the Scout hats.

Boy Scout from the Opposite Side

Next to a Foundry Commando (Going to be part of the Auxiliary Section) to see the size difference. I think that he could pass as 15 to 17yr old.

I hadn't intended to use this one & just use it as a prototype, but I'm please with how he turned out so I think I will chuck some paint at him & see how it looks.

Cheers
Keith

The Lion Has Phones

I've been making & painting this in bits & bats for a few months now (since I did the sniper)
Its an Objective marker for the demolition mission in Bolt Action, it's made from plasticard & plastic box, the sand bags are a resin piece from the defunct Crusader 36 with the Phone box & figures the usual Foundry pieces, with the guy on the phone made up from the leftover bits from making the sniper.

I have based it on a scene from the Dad's Army episode 'The Lion Has Phones' where they all have to learn how to make a phone call.
I may add some more figures etc. at some point.
